Obama to focus on better fiscal policy
by Zivka Deleva

Expecting the mid-term elections win in November, President Barack Obama already has a clue how to win over its people. He is going to focus the most on the fiscal policy, trying to decrease the country's huge deficit. He finds that people must learn to save money. Obama is so convinced that he is going to win these elections that already announces his future. The main points around which Obama's policy is going to be led are going to be reduction of the deficit, the field of education and saving energy, as well. He will stand still for the health care system. But his biggest concern at the moment due to this health care reform is whether it is going to fall down if in case! Republicans get the Congress control. If in case he is going to be opposed by the Republicans, President will still have the executive authority not to agree with congressmen's decisions. One of Obama's dilemma is whether he should continue his predecessor policy in tax cuts. People that earn less than $200,000 and married couples making less than $250,000, according to him, would have to pay more money to the country. 200 Obama's administration will have to face the reality, in terms of reducing their spending, because though there is a red alarm that is turned on for few years, the federal debt is growing from day to day. Well, i believe that it is very difficult for everybody that should step down from a horse on a donkey would have problem with it. And finally, I belive that he who is going to win over the fight with the unemployment rate that has reached almost 10 percent, will certainly be a hero of the nation. I don't believe Obama is ready to become one.

Republicans more popular with people as the elections approach
by Zuzana Zelenakova

As the midterm congressional elections approach all kinds of survey are conveyed to learn what mood prevaila among the voters. This time most of these surveys indicate that tha Republicans got ahead Democrats as fara s party popularity is concerned. Most people believe, the GOP will do a better job governing the country, especially when it comes to leading it out of stromy waters of national economy. It is not like the Republicans are far ahead of Democrats, they are just viewed a bit more positively. "If we get some new blood in there who will do what the people want, maybe this can get turned around," says 70-year-old Sharon Klawender from Kingston, Michigan. As many oth! ers, the main thing she dislikes about the Obama administration is excessive spending on what she sees as “stupid projects”. "Jobs are important," she says. "Houses left and right are being foreclosed." While Republicans are hoping for the Tea Party supporters to bring in votes, the Democrats stretch their hopes towards Black voters. The question stands: will they show up to support the party on November 2? “There are people who believe that only big presidential elections are important, but midterm is very important because it is within the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate where the big decisions are made.If you voted for Obama in 2008, he needs a Congress to get through the kinds of legislation that he promised to push for,” says Dr. William Boone, who teaches political science at Clark Atlanta University. As author Dr. Rosie Milligan stresses Blacks are not seeking any benefits when voting, although they should as high unemployment rat! es include them too. Rather, the follow their emotional side a! nd want to preserve a Black President in the White House as long as possible.

Obama on tour
by Milota Sidorova

Congressional elections scheduled on Nov 2nd may rewrite the political map of the U.S. Just two weeks before elections and White House is pulling the strings everywhere it can. But it seems that ruling Democratic party has relied more on one man – President Barack Obama who has been so far the most successful messanger and recruiter. And just like in 2008, President has set out the journey around states to rise „spirits“ of voters and preferences of his party. Again he seems to be focusing on the groups that made him the first man of the country. Campaign and meetings are focused on young people, women, Afro-Americans and older people. The tour also goes a! round five states where he won his presidential race and also around the states where the Democratic victory may be threatened. Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Ohio, California and Nevada are on the list. Obama paid a visit to Madison, Wisconsin last week and the meeting was clearly focused on young people, so was recent rally at Ohio University. Afro-Americans rally was scheduled during his trip in Pennsylvania. Upcoming rally in Seatle will face a discussion about the economy. So far, President has emphasized he fulfilled up to 70 percent of his pre-election promises. He also suggested that he failed to express his proposals to the public in the right way. Seattle's speech will adress the economy and how the crisis has affected women. President goes around the country also to promote some party's candidates like Pennsylvania Senate newcomer Joe Sestak who faces tough Republican opposition. Obama's strong side is his rhetoric ability and good, yet expensive campaigns – in 2! 008 he led the most expensive presidential campaign ever ̵! 1; excee ding more than $20 million.

Ancestry.com: real bullshit!
by Barbora Misakova

It is such a saying, that we all are brothers and sisters. But the real truth is a bit (actually very) complicated. Talking about someone’s brothers and sisters is one thing, but proving it is another, especially when someone tries to connect two famous people. According to Ancestry.com, site that discovers the family history of well-known figures, President Barack Obama is related to radio host and relentless critic Rush Limbaugh. This conservative political commentator should be Obama’s 10th cousin, through a common ancestor named Richmond Terrell. Anastasia Tyler, allegedly genealogist at the Utah-based Ancestry.com claims these two personas are family. On th! e other side she admits that history of common ancestor “is a little more nebulous.” Tyler said they start by picking the people they’re interested in, but actually it is not that easy. Family trees are very fascinating, there is no doubt, but to find out the truth is much more complicated. If you want to find who is who in your family tree, you need to do a detailed research. Looking for ancestors needs your 100-percent concentration and plenty of time. Even though I know nothing about Ancestry’s methodology, I would like to know why they are so sure. Common or even the same names in the family trees mean really nothing. How many people with the same surnames do we know? Before we accost someone strange, we should verify all presumptions. Is date and place of birth the same, are there any photographs that would prove it is the same person, what about his or her parents? These and even more questions must be answered before we mark someone as someone! else’s relative. Whether it was meant as a joke or not!!

US elections are coming near!
by Barbora Misakova

Politicians are all the same. It does not really matter in which country do you live, they act in essence identically. Sometimes it also looks like it was not important which political party we have been voting for, as all of them are making us crazy. As one character from my favorite American TV series, Sex in the city has said: “The good ones screw you, the bad ones screw you, and the rest don’t know how to screw you.” And even though she was talking about men in general, meaning of this sentence could fit on politicians as well. Not very optimistic economic situation is one of the main topics and also one of the mostly used accusations from irresponsibi! lity. If you are not satisfied with today’s situation, you should blame President Barack Obama and Democrats. They are making time tougher, at least Republicans say so. On the other hand, before Democrats there were Republicans holding power in their hands, so it was them, who actually caused the financial meltdown and recession. These opposing and dueling arguments will be bothering us (well I wanted to say “you-Americans”) till November 2nd when election will show which message is believed. There is one thing, which in spite of all that hatred and mutual attacks makes me laugh – suggestion of each party, it is just them who are holding the key to future prosperity. I am asking: HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE? Why is politician or political party holding the key to better future in their hands only weeks before the elections? And why (or maybe it is better to ask: HOW?) do they always lost it shortly after them? These questions will probably never be answere! d, but I will never stop to ask them again and again.
