We don´t wanna hear your stories...
by Milota Sidorova
WikiLeaks are changing the face of our media reflection and improve general critical thinking about media and politicians – in fact, they don´t serve anything new to us – silently we have guessed there is something rotten in Iraq and Afghan wars and many other world cases, but we just didn´t want to hear and speak about it. WikiLeaks are not the problem – if you look critically at its content, you realize the site is protecting its sources. People who submitted materials are on the great media and politician haunt. They are haunted by Washinghton and many other governments the way and the words that are threatening even to us – those who li! ve in so called democratic society. Now, even if WikiLeaks offer direct evidences of the worst crimes, those who are responsible have a full mouth shouting about espionage and so called „security violations“. They don´t seem to realize the graveness of the information and ignore commenting it in media. And it seems like an absurd drama if a thief points his finger and shouting „catch the one who blame me“. And it is a crucial time for world media – because it has been visible that most of them has been just acting according to interests of their owners. At the time, real solutions were happening we got overloaded by amazing amount of raw news and reports – that were far from something called responsible journalism. We got overwhelmed by the news of catastrophes and disasters and how many people died during bus crash etc and real issues didn´t get a real space. We got used to fall back and remained silent and impassive against t! hem. And now we see a sharp difference between the quality of! reports media were serving us every day and real informations. We have to enjoy and realize this huge and terrifying difference. Many say that WikiLeaks are changing the way we look at the media and the powers ruling this world – public is more cautious to their words and don´t take it 100 percent. And it needs no further commentary if politicians speak openly about a murder of a Julien Assange, founder of WikiLeaks and if suddenly he gets arrested for sexual harrasment and media say nothing more about it. Everything remains loud and silent in a strange and bizzard way. Politicians are proud to be on the haunt of WikiLeaks doing everything to stop them – blocking it on many servers, stopping its financial support like blocking PayPal. But WikiLeaks were ready for this – so far they have been successfully changing servers and divided the content between mroe than 100,000 people. According to Assange, even without him WikiLeaks would continue the work. And it&! #180;s been a phenomenal project that got enough power to disturb the stability of increasing censorhip and global media and power control. However, now is the time for the public to make the second step. WikiLeaks is the battlefield of a current war.
