All quiet on the western front, most Americans would say after taking a closer look at their representatives. They all promise a lot of things before getting elected, but everything is forgotten once they take the lead. Wouldn’t be great for them at least from time to time to honor the commitments made to the voters? Like in any other country, in USA too, taxpayers are supporting the expenses of the members of the House who in return have to debate and to approve all the laws and measures. It is a fair deal as long as they are the employees and US residents are their bosses, but the roles are somehow messed up becau! se the deputies seem to have forgotten to do their jobs, while taxpayers' money are still pourring in the Congress' budget. Majority Leader Hoyer promised both in 2006 and in 2008 that the members will have to follow a schedule with five working days and work hard to bring the change for the American people. Nonetheless, that was an empty promise as the schedule changed from four or five days a week to three, while the sessions were shortened with few interventions. As it is, the Democrats failed to prove by now that they deserve to lead, to have the power. Most of the commitments made during the presidential campaign are now on hold, with no specific date for when they will be assumed, and the country is still waiting to see a change. A possible explanation is that after the good start at the beginning of the year, Obama and his party are now out of batteries and they need to recharge them, which is why they have such long breaks. Please note, that the! situation is mostly the same in all countries and the problem! s seem t o pile in while the politicians succeed one after the other without any remarkable results. I said it before and I’ll say it again: all quiet on the western front!
