Kennedy Squeezing Medicare Ballot
by Milota Sidorova
Standing ovations and tears of happiness have surrounded long term expected Wednesday's meeting of Senators in Washinghton. The Congress had pushed planned Medicare reform into the final poll.
After months taking discussion it has gained anticipated support of Democrats and Republican objection. However, the numbers have been almost equal, shared in ratio of 50:50, each possible vote was more than necessary.
Edward Moore 'Ted' Kennedy, 76 years old Democratic icon, the youngest one of three Kennedy brothers, long distance supporter of important social issues from tightening immigration policy, critical views to American led to Iraq, opposition against firearms and guns ownership, raising minimum wage, student financial aid and disputed same sex marriages, despite of his weak health conditions, has participated on the ballot.
According his words, he didn't want to take a chance his vote could ruin the reform. Supporter of Barrack Obama, who's been striking malignant brain tumor, diagnosed on May 20, 2008 has arrived to the hall. From that time, it had look more like real tough American Reality show. Mortal suffering Kennedy turned out 59 Democratic votes adding his one, to gain final 60, the necessary minimum to prove the reform. After the first round, several of Republicans followed charismatic staunch advocate of liberal principles and the Medicare bid has been approved.
Democrats have been trying to ease lawmakers, striking the pressure from doctors and patients they served to void a 10.6 percent pay cut for doctors treating Medicare patients. The formula should significantly protect the Medicare on behalf of senior citizens.
In a minute of declaring result, the observers that overhang the chamber burst into cheers, some of the Senators into applause and tears. Satisfied relaxed Kennedy has immediately left the hall, returning back home to get ready for Thursday's medical survey.
That's is how do Americans do their juicy conferences. Howgh!
