The dispute over delegates
by Lenka Filipova
There has been a controversy over the delegates of Michigan and Florida since January of this year. In that time the premises were held in these states. The rules of these both states were violated and resulting from this, they both were detracted of their delegates. Thus, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) is now working on the most appropriate solution to this problem. Its task is to find out the compromise that will suit both parties. It met on Saturday and since that it has reached two possibilities. The first one seems to propose that a half of the delegates would be sent to the convention. However, here the question comes, which half it is going to be. And the second choice is to send there all delegates but each one will have only a half vote.Whatever the DNC will decide, for Obama and Clinton is very important in what proportion these votes will be split. The resolution of the Democratic contest stated on Saturday that for Obama it was 2,026 delegates to vote for him so that he could be nominated. According to Obama's campaign manager there is no reason to worry despite the fact that if the nomination is going to be based on the rules of Committee, they will need some more extra delegates.Hillary Clinton is trying to pull the strings to fully seat all 368 delegates from Florida and Michigan, as she won the primaries in both states. However, from the interview by the Associated Press, committee members do not show any extra interest to seat all the delegates. If the delegates were divided exactly in the same portion, Obama would need 9 additional votes to clinch the nomination. And the umber is still growing as there are uncommitted delegates from these two states.
