Italy in political depression by Lenka Lehenova

In the world there are still arguments about economy, politics or environment. Every state has some problems and the government have to solve it. Italy has just got to this uneasy situation because of a political recession. President Giorgio Napolitano dissolved Parliament and he made way for untimely election by this step. Election will realize only two years after others Parliamentary Election so it means more than three years before the end of Parliament five years term. It is a way how Italians could return conservative Silvio Berlusconi back to power. He is Italian ex-chairman whose place has been replaced by Prime minister Romano Prodi. President had to make this decision because of the collapse of Prodi's center-left government last month and his consequent effort to change this situation has finished by failure. Prodi hasn't acquired enough votes (161 senators have been against him and 156 senators for him) so he gave his demission to President. . According to journal Corriere della Sera, Prodi's popularity is decreasing. In January 2007 his popularity was 41 percent but in December 2007 it was only 25 percent. Italian Prime minister has decided not to stand as a candidate in oncoming election but he will promote Democratic party with Walter Veltron on the top and his political plan. Election have to realize till 70 days after dissolving of legislature. Cabinet set the April 13rd and 14th, 2008 like a date of Parliamentary Election. Prodi's government has collapsed in 24th of January. It has been the second shortest-lived Parliament but the seventh most successful government in surviving in Italy's postwar history with Prodi on the top only for twenty months.
