Early voting in US presidential elections
by Tatiana Hadarova
Apart from the question who to vote must americans nowadays also consider another issue: when to vote. The election day, which is set on the 5, February is approaching and many of the states and presidential candidates are trying to use their voters hesitation and to allow them to vote in advance of election day. But according to american style of election, in which is important how many votes would each candidate gets in every state in the primaries, can be this possibility of early voting quiet risky, especially for voters. They are affraid that their votes could be in early voting wasted for unsuccessful candidate. âIn the election like this, when the fortunes of candidates seem to be falling and raising daily, that tends to lead people to wait a little later," said Brook Thompson, a state elections coordinator. âSome don't want to vote for somebody who might fall of the wagon" he said, âthey want to see who they think will be stronger against the opponent." Many states and candidates use this possibility and try to persuade people. For exemple Democrat candidates All Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton starts their campaign int the north of California, which typically has the highest number of early voters. Also Rudy Giuliani didn't miss the chance and rushed himself to arrive to Florida before his rivals, where he was trying to convince people by plucky proclamations:"I tell you what, before they even get here to campaign how about you go to vote for me?" As we can see, the battle for presidency in US is though and candidates use agressive and hazardous tactics. But how about poor voters who are in this campaign hardly âhammered"?
